What the Cluck?

It’s totally confusing with all the nutrition labeling and various options of poultry to purchase at the store.

Whatever your reason for purchasing…here are the facts so you can make a more educated decision 🙂

USDA Grade A

Easy way to pick chicken with a consistent and verified quality

It’s what’s “not there” that counts

This label ensures the absence of feathers, tears/cuts in the skin, broken bones, bruises

All chicken is technically “antibiotic free

Federal rules state if any antibiotics were required they must have cleared the birds’ system before they can leave the farm.

Added or artificial hormones in poultry is forbidden by law by the FDA

Fresh” means the temperature of the whole poultry and cuts has never fallen below 26’F (the temperature at which poultry freezes) unlike water.

USDA certified organic” indicates the chicken has been fed organic feed (corn, soybeans). The chicken is free range (has access to the outdoors for some part of the day) and has not been given antibiotics but may have been vaccinated against common diseases. This label does not indicate the products safety, quality, or nutritional composition is any greater than the conventionally raised product.
