21 Jul 10 Tips to Shift your Spending
You can’t afford to invest in yourself?
This is a common obstacle limiting people from making monumental healthy changes. You feel like there is no way to afford working with someone, but you’re not doing it on your own. This is a totally reasonable feeling.
I challenge you to sit down and make a list of EXTRA COSTS you are spending money on.
IDEAS
-
Magazine subscriptions you don’t use/read
-
Buying a new dress for each wedding/event you go to
-
Extra medical bills (dental, MD visits, medications)
-
Individual coffee purchases
-
Purchasing snacks/drinks when out doing errands
-
Buying brand name products (food, clothes, toothpaste)
-
Being Unorganized
-
When you go to Target for one item…
-
Going out to dinner/drinks on a regular basis
-
Getting your nails done frequently
TIPS
-
The next time you get a magazine you never read, call the number on the back immediately and cancel the subscription. This takes 2 minutes, I just did it the other day.
-
Rent or borrow a dress. My sweet friend lets me borrow dresses all the time for events. For example this red number in the photo 🙂 There are also places like Rent the Run Way that rent dresses that is cheaper than buying and wearing once anyway.
-
What you put in your body can truly affect how often you need to go to the doctor, have dental work done and be on medications. We’re talking MAJOR $$ savor.
-
Use a reusable coffee mug and make coffee at home. OR drink less coffee.
-
PLAN AHEAD. When you know you’re going to be out of the house for an extended period of time, bring a water bottle and a few snacks that can hold well.
-
READ THE LABEL. Store brand food items typically have the SAME ingredients as brand name.
-
If the mess around you doesn’t motivate you to GET ORGANIZED, think about the last time you had to buy a new cell phone charger because you lost it, or had to pay a locksmith to open your house/car because you couldn’t find your keys.
-
MAKE A LIST. When you are going to any store, go with a plan and stay focused on that. If you didn’t come in for it, you don’t need it.
-
Learn to cook, make food at home and plan meals. Something we can work on together!

Is getting your nails done every month REALLY adding VALUE to your life and goals? Your nails are much healthier when they have oxygen to grow on their own rather than being suffocated by acrylic nails. Just sayin…
I’d love to hear some things you are able to adjust in your spending. Is money something you feel is preventing you from working working with a nutrition professional?
