07 Sep Why You Don’t Need Another Diet or Detox
This time of year you start to see more diet ads blasted in your face.
“How to lose weight Fast.”
The end of summer signals us back into routine and structure with work and school. It’s a very similar mentality to January with the end of the Holidays.
BUT, The last thing you need right now is a detox or diet.
Being on a diet robs you of the energy to do anything but diet!
Your chances of keeping off the weight you lose on a diet for 5 years or more is about the same chance of surviving metastatic lung cancer, 5%. And when you gain the weight back you will think the problem is you.
Research suggests 95% of people gain the weight back they lose if not MORE. And you don’t get your $$ back. That’s like buying a new laptop, using it for a month. Then it stops working and you try to bring it back to the store and they blame you for it malfunctioning. You’re not the problem, it’s the diet you’re doing.
Have you asked weight watchers for your money back because you gained the weight back you lost? Let me know how that goes 🙂
Yo yo dieting, which is gaining and losing the same weight over and over again is linked to heart disease, insulin resistance, high blood pressure, inflammation and long term weight gain.
You may struggle with undereating, overeating, emotional eating, accepting and nourishing your body, honoring your hunger, giving yourself grace. That’s ok!
But dieting doesn’t cure those problems, it creates more of them! You don’t need a new you. You need to create healthy habits you feel confident about maintaining.
You need to continue to keep doing the things that have gotten you the results. So if you hate the diet you are on, you are not going to maintain the temporary results. It’s like having a really great month in sales at your job. You have to continue those skills that worked well to maintain that success.
Nothing terrible happens to you after you eat a hamburger and fries or a piece of cake. It’s the behaviors that happen after eating these foods that start the cycle.

Restricting food the next day. Feeling the need to compensate for eating too many calories and needing to do intense exercise, then having overwhelming cravings for carbs & fat. Finally giving into cravings and overeating these “off limit” foods.
You don’t need more rules and more foods to eliminate. You need to build a strong foundation and fill your cup.
If you are ready to create a healthy relationship with food, learning how to nourish your body rather than punishing it and find enjoyment in eating again. Let’s talk.
