01 Jan 5 Tips to Dominate Your Nutrition This Year
It’s super appealing to follow a plan, program or prescription right now. Eliminate all the carbs and start an intense exercise program.
One size fits all programs will continue to fail you, because they are creating unrealistic expectations, strict avoidance of certain foods and lack of personalized nutrition education.
In order to create sustainable nutrition and body composition changes it’s important to continue to implement strategies that help you feel your best, while having flexibility with your nutrition and including the things you truly enjoy.
5 Tips to Dominate Your Nutrition in 2021
1. Start by creating awareness
Often times you are completely unaware of what you ate or didn’t eat during the day. Food is eaten reactively and scattered. Therefore, you are not always giving your body enough of certain nutrients and feeling satisfied from food choices. Rather than feeling like you need to “obsess over your food,” think of it out of respect and being more aware of how you can better plan your meals to help you FEEL your best.
2. Identify the low hanging fruit
Identify the smallest change you can start with to help build momentum and feel successful. When you make little mini commitments you are more likely to stay consistent with these habits.
3. Get Support
Humans hate change. Our bodies are programmed for survival and constantly seeking homeostasis. Change is scary and can produce the anxiety of overwhelm. The logical and rational side of your brain knows the things that you should be doing. But the emotional side of your brain can over power that and you get stuck in your head and limiting beliefs. It’s so important to have someone invested in the process with you, to help you step outside your frame and see all the powerful shifts you are making. You often don’t realize how much you have accomplished when you are “in the trenches.”
4. Audit Your Environment
What is helping you or hurting you from being successful with your goals?
Take a careful inventory of what you are surrounded by.
Your environment includes your relationships, network and living space.
What relationships are supporting you and your growth?
Who is bringing you down?
Is your space cluttered and unorganized?
Is your kitchen, fridge, pantry cluttered and part of the reason you avoid preparing meals?
We are very affected by our environment and surroundings and this can directly affect our growth or limitations.
What is ONE thing you can do to edit your environment for future success?
5. Prioritize Your Goals
If you are “hoping” you eat balanced, satisfying meals, drink enough water and get to bed on time, you are letting your days run you. And they will continue to run you. You have to take control of your days, be proactive about your priorities and plan them into your day. Ask for help, delegate responsibilities. We all need support to be successful. Communicate your needs and advocate for yourself.
You are unbelievably Worth it!!
