Do You Really Know Yourself?

The most important relationship you will ever have is the one with yourself.

After college, as a result of initially disappointing circumstances I pivoted for a few years and had a lot of time with myself. Although this is not what I was planning, it was the best thing for me to truly tune in to what I wanted my life to look like without the glare of flashing lights.

I lived in several different places, one of them being a hotel in downtown Los Angeles for three months (by choice) training to be a yoga teacher. A stayed with family in the Orange County area of CA for several months, and then moved to Connecticut to be mentored at a studio there. I came back to the surrounding area I grew up in and lived in Saratoga Springs, NY solo for a few years, teaching yoga, waitressing and completing my Masters degree.

It was during this whirlwind I met Chris, my now husband, at the restaurant we both worked at. Although my path to get here with my career and marriage was not linear and certainly not without a lot of frustration, failures and disappointments. I believe I stayed true to myself and my intuition. Because I had the space and time to really be with me, I know this is what has allowed me to have such a strong relationship regardless of hardships.

Chris and I are more opposite than similar in Many ways. But our differences enhance each other. He makes me check myself when I am off because I know he is looking in my best interest. It has also been really helpful for each of us to have our own passions separately, and not take that from one another.

I am only speaking from personal experience. And while this doesn’t seem nutrition related, most things actually are!

If you are doubting yourself, questioning yourself, completely disconnected from yourself, what you actually want and your bodies cues in general. You are likely also probably stuck in a poor relationship with food, you don’t trust your body and you are looking for constant external validation that is very fleeting.

Naturally when I work my nutrition clients around slowing down, pausing more and listening to their bodies cues with hunger levels, sleep patterns, and general behaviors. It opens up so many other areas of their lives they were dis attuned to before.

Doing this work is truly the best gift you can give to yourself, and really the rest of your life!
