Why you Are Struggling to Stick with It

When I am working with my nutrition coaching clients, we are not just talking about nutrition and their weight. What we talk about is actually the complete opposite of what other diet programs are focusing on.

When you “check in” with Weight Watchers it’s all about making sure you ate within “your points” and what your weight is that day.

No consideration in how your stress was that week, how your mood and energy were, if you were having a tough week emotionally, or felt like a failure because it was your son’s birthday & wanted to enjoy a piece of cake.

I was on the phone with a woman the other day who was frustrated with diets, Isagenix being one of them. I wanted to do some of my own research into what some of the diet programs are presenting and the above picture is a screen shot of the first search that came up…

Does this Bother you?

Because it really made me sad.

The amount of $$, frustration and emotion people are putting into these diet programs that clearly teach you nothing and you are unable to maintain the very fast weight loss.

**Also note that Weight loss is NOT the same as Fat loss.

I talk to women everyday about how they feel frustrated, defeated, confused, disappointed, uncomfortable, fill in the blank, about their weight, diet history and relationship to food.

The food you eat is just ONE piece of the puzzle. It’s vital to peel back the layers and get to the root of your relationship with food and YEARS of prior conditioning.

95% of the things we do each day are out of habits, feelings & learned behaviors. Things we don’t need to think about.

Our bodies are built for survival. Our brain works on survival mechanisms that are driven by habits to efficiently move through the day.

Putting your car in reverse, looking in your rear view mirror, filling your water bottle, cleaning your plate, finishing your kid’s plate. These are unconscious decisions driven by prior conditioning.

One of the biggest reasons I see women struggling to stick with their goals is because you are trying to break the habit.

“I need to stop eating sugar.”
“I need to stop going through the drive through.”

“I need to stop drinking wine at night.”
“I need to stop watching TV so much.”

If you try to break the habit you are not going to be successful because you still have the FEELING of boredom, stress, overwhelm.

You still have the desired outcome of wanting to relax, unwind, be happy, feel better.

Instead of breaking the habit, you have to REPLACE the habit with another activity that will give you the same desired outcome.

This is a huge part of what we work on through nutrition coaching.

This is how you are able to maintain all of the amazing hard work you are doing.

This is how you show up as the best version of yourself, create really strong habits that support your goals and MAINTAIN your results!
