14 Oct You Over Ate Again … Now What?
You know how the story goes….
You are starving when you get home from work and dive right into the pantry. You end up eating way more snacks than you wanted to and now you don’t feel great.
You aren’t hungry for dinner, but then get hungry again later at night and start snacking again. You wake up feeling frustrated and guilty. Skip breakfast and the cycle begins again.
Candy is EVERY where. You are grabbing it way more often than you want to be. And then end up not making the healthiest choices after because you feel like you already “messed up” the day.
Ok, so you ate more than you planned. But it’s your perspective of the experience, what you do with this data, and the choices you make next, that matter more than that one moment of your day.
read that again.
Here are some tips to help you move through these moments, and not let these feelings carry over and affect future choices.
Stop beating yourself up.
You are human.
You are imperfect.
If you are constantly shaming your body and self worth, of course you are going to be unmotivated to show up for yourself and make better choices.
Give yourself grace.
Reframe the negative self talk.
Try saying, “I know eating those foods didn’t make me feel good. I will focus on nourishing my body better tomorrow. I am worth my energy and focus.”
Each experience is a learning opportunity.
What did you do well that made you FEEL good?
What did you not do that you could focus on better next time?
Look back on your day …
-
Did you have breakfast, lunch?
-
Did you include a source of carbs, protein and fat at these meals?
-
Did you drink enough water throughout the day?
-
Did you get enough sleep the night before?
-
Did something happen today emotionally or extra stressful?
- Have you been rushing and reactive all day, with no space in your day for yourself?
All of these factors and more can affect your food choices later in the day.
Once we are more aware of our habits and behaviors, we can take action towards replacing more goal supportive steps!
Replace that habit of going into the pantry for a snack when you get home with another activity that will give you that same reward you are looking for, but has a better long term feeling.
-
Bring clothes and sneakers with you to work and go for a walk right after work
-
Do a yoga video when you get home from work
-
Have a plan for dinner and portion out a snack to eat while you cook
I know you feel stuck and like you’ve tried everything. Diets are not truly teaching you how to eat to feel good, working through your personal life challenges, or looking at your relationship with foods.
You need a plan that meets you where you are at and cares about you as a human.
The answer to your weight loss goals is not found in the next shiney diet. We have to peel back the layers and understand the root cause limiting you from seeing long term success.
I would love to help you achieve that!

How are you feeling moving into the Holiday season?
Think of how far ahead you will be on your goals starting Now rather than waiting for January to “start fresh.” My clients are feeling so confident moving into the Holiday months, because they understand what works for them and we have already been practicing how to best navigate travel, eating out and mixing in the delicious sweets, treats and foods they value.
Health is not about restricting and eliminating the foods you love. It is about learning how to include the delicious indulgent aspects of life in a way that feels nourishing to YOU.
I would love to help you navigate your goals and create a confident relationship with food and your self, by ditching the all or nothing mindset and creating healthy habits and realistic nutrition … that last!
