Why Routines Matter

How you structure (or don’t structure) your day can really impact your health goals.

As humans we thrive with a sense of purpose, structure and routine.

You know when your kids have consistent sleep and wake times they behave better!

When you lack routine in your day, other areas of our life can be negatively impacted.

Stress is Higher

You often feel paralyzed from being overwhelmed with tasks and do nothing.

Sleep Suffers

If you’re always feeling behind from trying to play catch up, you may struggle with falling asleep from the monkey mind of what didn’t get done.

Nutrition Is Compromised

If you aren’t taking time in the week for appropriate planning for groceries and meals, fast food options can take over your diet.

Activity Doesn’t Happen

Without scheduling activity into your day it will likely not happen.

Rest and Relaxation take a Back Seat

When you are constantly playing catch up and not using your time effectively, rest and taking care of yourself can be neglected because you feel like there is “never enough time.”

Creating strong morning and evening routines have been such a game changer in my life and the women I work with.

When you take a little extra time in the morning for yourself, you feel so much better and more productive during the day. Taking time before you start your work day to move your body and have nourishing breakfast will make you want to continue to make healthy choices throughout the day.

Dedicating a little bit of time during the week to plan healthy food options will make the rest of your week less stressful.

Taking time to unwind before bed will help you get a more restful sleep.

Having a routine makes it easier to jump back into structure when you do go away or off your routine.

Is this something you are struggling with during the summer?

This can be more challenging to implement during the summer months, but can easily be done by figuring out a realistic approach for you.

A routine can look many different ways, the most important thing is that it makes sense for you and the goals you have for yourself. One of the first things I review with my nutrition coaching clients in their routine. We identify what is adding to their goals and what is limiting them. From there we create a plan that makes sense for them to be successful implementing.
