10 Oct Why the Fall is a Great Time to Start Taking Action
Each season has so many great qualities and reminds us to evolve and transition with the weather.
Fall is one of my favorites though.
The Crisp Air
Warm Sun
Jeweled Tone Trees
Pumpkin everything
Apple picking and corn mazes
Nature walks and hikes
Getting back into the kitchen
Cozy blankets and warm sweaters
Sitting by the fire
Settling in early, with advancing sunsets
Each season has its blessings and helps us to appreciate each change and transition for the inspiration and change of energy it brings.
5 Reasons Why the Fall is a GREAT time to jump into your Health & Weight Loss Goals
1. The Goldilocks of Outdoor Activity
The air and scenery are the best for walking, running and hiking. Less bugs and humidity, make these activities even more appealing! Walks and hikes are a great way to connect with friends, enjoy a social activity while getting movement fresh air and beautiful views. It is literally FREE whole body healing.
This time of year also comes with lots of yard work, raking and mowing. But look at these as opportunities to move and enjoy the weather! It always feels so good after accomplishing house projects and getting in your movement. When your space feels organized, your brain feels more clear and focused.
2. All the Fall Produce
Adding fruits and veggies into your days are fun with all of the fall abundance of produce.
Roasted veggie options are endless! Beets, carrots, parsnips, butternut squash, brussels sprouts, cauliflower … to name a few options.
Fall fruits and veggies are at their peak nutritional quality, taste and budget friendly!
Add sliced apple to salads with pecans, cheese & fennel
Add canned pumpkin to smoothies, muffins, oatmeal or chili (so many great ideas in my metabolism support fall meal guide!)
Make soups with squash, sweet potatoes, carrots
3. Slow Cooker Season
Choose a slow cooker recipe this week to set up for some healthy dinners and leftovers. Slow cooking veggies and proteins keeps all the nutrients in the meal and are full of flavor. Walking into your house after a long day with a hot meal ready to go! Great for multiple people, future meals and freezer friendly.
It’s the best feeling when dinner is taken care of when you get home because you took a few minutes earlier in the day to make it happen, (or communicated with your partner to help you make it happen)!
4. Settling Back Into a Routine
Creating routines are key for long lasting habits. Summer has the gift of a slower pace and fall brings back more formal schedules. Eating habits very much reflect our schedules. When we feel scattered and all over the place, eating can mimic this. Random snacks, no formal meals, lack of planning.
This is a great time to come back to creating more of a rhythm around meals and eating habits that support you! There is also a sense of pull to get back into the kitchen and create nourishing meals that feel so good!
5. Gain Confidence with Healthy Habits
Establishing some basic healthy habits now will help you roll into the Holidays with confidence. I work with my clients to feel confident eating out and navigating travel and Holidays while still moving forward towards their health and weight loss goals. If you aren’t learning how to navigate LIFE – (which includes Holidays and celebrations) you won’t be able to maintain all of your amazing results! Health is not about restricting and giving up the foods you love. It’s about learning to include the delicious aspects of life in a way that feels nourishing to you!
How are you feeling moving into the Holiday season?
Think of how far ahead you will be on your goals starting now rather than waiting for January. My clients are feeling so confident moving into the Holidays, because they understand what works for them and we have already been practicing how to best navigate travel, eating out and mixing in treats and sweets.
I would love to help you navigate your goals and create a confident relationship with food and your self, by ditching the all or nothing mindset and creating healthy habits and realistic nutrition … that last!
